BFS Counseling provides several different approaches to alcohol and drug education. One approach is the eight-hour A & D class that is often ordered by many Court systems. We also offer an adolescent underage consumption class that is much of the same information presented in a different manner. Family education presents insights into the life of substance use disorders and how the family can help.
We provide anger management classes and domestic violence classes. Although they may sound the same, they are very different, we explain that difference below. Finally, we approach an educational life coaching class that is about overcoming life’s obstacles. We are available to help our clients individually as well as through groups. Please give us a call.
Buchanan Ferraro & Stancil Counseling’s approach to educational classes is to engage the class with interesting and relative information about today’s evidence-based research. Our classes are interactive, meaning we have a curriculum, and we also have lots of room left for your questions and topics we can cover. Today’s internet and media, unfortunately, has a lot of incorrect information and we would like to answer any questions you might have, if we don’t have the answers, we will get them for you.
Our Domestic Violence class is offered for 26 weeks. We started this program with another facility approximately 10 years ago and our recidivism rate has been only 6%. Domestic violence occurs within the family unit. The intent is to control or intimidate the spouse, partner, parent or part of the family into subjugation by the dominate partner. This varies greatly from anger, as anger is a natural reaction to an event that has violated ones’ boundaries. If you have a need to change the behaviors associated with domestic violence please call us. The pattern can be changed; this is a pattern that is passed from generation to generation. We can help.
Underage consumption classes provide evidence-based education regarding alcohol and drug use and consequences following these high-risk choices. Rarely do adolescents completely engage in the educational side of a program. The programs for our teens are interactive and a lot of time is set aside questions and activities with the group and some individual, when needed. We provide snacks. We hold monthly classes at our office at 1221 S. Hartmann Drive, Suite B, Lebanon TN 37090. Nicki Stancil is our Adolescent Coordinator, please call her at 256-415-3206 to schedule an appointment.
In today’s world life moves fast, fast, fast. If there are two parents, both are usually working. If there is only one, they are most certainly working. Children are in school or in daycare of both. Families are unquestionably a gift from God and sometimes they feel as if they are a gift we would like to return, maybe just for a day or two?? Of course, I am kidding. We all know how overwhelming life can be just doing the best we can with everyday events. Family stress can cause arguments and discord if we all it too. Let us help you recognize the gift again and create a plan to modify the stressors. Call us if you would like to find out more.
So, let’s talk about anger management for a moment. Anger is a natural emotion. Everyone feels angry at some time in the life. It’s a natural emotion that says, “Hey, you crossed into an area that you are not welcome… you have violated my personal boundary!”. That is healthy and normal. When we go beyond a normal reaction and our action becomes rage, then we need to seek help to learn how to stop our anger before it hurts us or someone else. Anger is different from domestic violence because it is a single event. The person that gets angry is not attempting to “control” the other individual in a consistent predictable manner. If you feel you have a problem with anger, give us a call, we will be happy to help.
Often life is about overcoming losses. Losses may be dreams we scripted when we were children that did not come to pass. Sometimes we need to let go of hurts we have endured during a marriage or relationship. Every so often, we wake up and wonder who we are and what happened to the person with all those plans? Our loved ones die, they divorce us, and we wake up and another day has begun. If you are struggling with today, struggling with living today, wondering from time to time is this my life? Alcohol and drug education includes education for many areas of counsleing. Call us. We would love to help.
